Center for Information Policy and E-Government
The Center for Information Policy and Electronic Government (CIPEG) is a multidisciplinary research and educational center that focuses on the intersections between public policy and law, ethics, and trust as they affect the uses of information in society by individuals, organizations, and governments. Originally established in 1998 as the Center for Information Policy, CIPEG studies the convergence of policy, information, and technology in forums as diverse as emergency response, online social networks, electronic records management, and public libraries. The access, exchange, and management of information have been key recurring issues throughout history. However, in the age of the Internet, information has become the lifeblood of government, commerce, education, social interaction, and many other daily activities, and policies that frame information are more vital than ever in shaping society.
